Davido, Mayorkun stopped picking my calls after music collaboration — Spyro spills

Singer Spyro has opened up about his challenges in the music industry, sharing how he once believed his collaborations with stars like Davido and Mayorkun would be a turning point for his career.

According to Spyro, although the song gained popularity, he was quickly sidelined and attempts to reconnect with those he had worked with were unsuccessful as they stopped picking his calls.

Speaking in an interview on Hiptv Trending, Spyro recalled feeling devastated, often breaking down in tears.

“I had a song back then and I had David and Mayorkun and I thought my life was about to change. So the song came out and it was big, and all of a sudden I went back down. “

“I thought of it, how do you go from working with David and vibing with Mayorkun and all of these big guys and all of a sudden they don’t even pick your calls any more. There were times I’d sit on the staircase and cry,” he said.

He also slammed some gospel artists, accusing them of being driven by financial gain rather than genuine faith in the gospel.

In contrast, Spyro praised Tems, a successful female artist, for her talent and resilience.

He believes she is an excellent role model for young women and deserves recognition for her achievements in the music industry.

“People that claim to be gospel ministers are just artists. They are just in the business to make money. They’re just like us in the Afrobeat industry. “
