The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ekom Ayambem, has been removed from office.
During Wednesday’s plenary session, 17 members of the House impeached the Speaker on charges of embezzlement.
Effiom Ekarika, a representative for the Calabar South 1 Constituency, made the impeachment motion.
Omang Charles Omang, a legislator for the Bekwarra State Constituency, seconded the motion.
