Court Jail Teenager Two Years, Three Months For Attempted Theft

Bola Osunsanmi, the Chief Magistrate of Ikeja Magistrate Court on Tuesday, today sentenced a teenage boy, Ishola Yusuf, to two years and three months in Borstal Correctional Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State for attempted theft.

The magistrate sent the convict to three months for scaling the fence and two years for attempting to steal.

She also held that the sentence will run concurrently without the option of any fine attached.

“It will serve as a deterrent to others,” she said.

During court proceedings, the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offence was committed on 28th of November, 2022, at 20, Salumonu Street, Agege, Lagos State.

Akeem said,

“The convict was arraigned on December 2, 2022, pleaded guilty, and has been in the correctional facility since then.

“He scaled the fence of Mr Ben Njoku’s house with intent to steal and was caught before committing the crime.”

The offence contravened the provisions Sections 168 and 406 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, Akeem added. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>
