Colorado Cop Fired After Punching Handcuffed Woman In The Face (Video)

A shocking incident involving a Colorado police officer assaulting an unruly woman while she was in handcuffs has led to the officer’s termination. Loveland Police Chief Tim Doran released body camera footage on Friday, revealing the disturbing altercation that took place on May 20.

The video footage shows Russell Maranto, along with his fellow officers, escorting Angelia Hall into a hospital room for evaluation after she was placed in protective custody. Hall had been wandering in traffic and mumbling to herself, prompting the intervention.

As the clip begins, Hall is seen sitting in a chair with her hands cuffed behind her back, becoming increasingly confrontational and verbally abusive towards the officers. Maranto takes a piece of paper from Hall’s hand and walks away with it. This action triggers a volatile reaction from Hall, who demands the return of her paper.

Attempting to de-escalate the situation, Maranto returns to Hall in an effort to calm her down. However, unable to contain her anger, Hall spits at Maranto. In response, the officer forcefully punches her in the face, causing minor injuries.

Following the incident, Chief Doran promptly terminated Maranto from his position and initiated an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, Angelia Hall has been charged with assault for her actions directed towards Maranto. The Larimer County District Attorney’s Office is currently considering whether to pursue criminal charges against Maranto.

The release of the video footage has sparked widespread outrage and calls for police accountability. Advocacy groups and community members are demanding a thorough investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need for transparency and the implementation of appropriate measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

The Loveland Police Department has expressed its commitment to ensuring the integrity of their officers and maintaining public trust. Chief Doran has stated that the actions depicted in the video do not reflect the values and standards upheld by the department. Efforts are underway to review and reinforce training protocols regarding the appropriate use of force and de-escalation techniques.
