Christmas Day: Ogun State Celebrates 1,000 Children

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ogun State has celebrated and distributed gift items to children of over 1,000 in a project tagged: ‘Ori-Omi Children’s Party 2022’ to mark the Christmas Day.

It was gathered that the children present at the gathering, aged between two and 18 years of age, received branded gift items in addition to special gift awarded to winners in games and dancing competitions in the course of the programme.

The happy children were seen also thrilled to other forms of attractions like bouncing castles and horse riding during the Christmas celebration programme in ogun state.

Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo Who is the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the state, revealed that the programme was aimed at giving the children within Abeokuta environment a memorable and favorable holiday to mark the Christmas Day.

The commissioner noted that celebrating with other children aside their families is in a controlled and a secured atmosphere which would definitely put smiles on the children faces.

She said, “This is one of the present administration’s lofty ideas of spreading love and integrating children into Christmas celebration.

“We as an administration understands that the celebration is incomplete without children being touched tenderly with love,”.

Some of the children who were interviewed including Emmanuel Nwabusi, Kolade Adegoke and Esther Fagbenro, expressed gratitude and appreciate the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun for his loving gestures and the memorable holiday celebration.

The children described the holiday programme as an act of kindness, adding that, “the celebration was top-notch.”

Also, one of the children elated Abdulwasiu Banmeke, who spoke in the Yoruba dialect, disclosed that he had participated in various programmes of the ceremony for over eight hours.

Banmeke, Who is winner of the dancing competition and was given a special gift revealed that the event availed him opportunity to interact freely and closely with those not his acquaintances and hope that this loving gesture will continue.

“I hope this will continue at every festive period,” he stated.
