Atiku is making a serious accusation against President Bola Tinubu. He claims that President Tinubu submitted a forged academic certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the election.
To back up his allegation, Atiku went to court in the United States and obtained an injunction.
This legal move compelled Chicago State University to release President Tinubu’s academic records. At a press conference, Atiku revealed that the certificate President Tinubu presented actually belonged to a Black American woman.
Now, legal expert Titilope Anifowoshe has weighed in on the situation.
She points out that for Atiku’s forgery claim to hold up in court, he needs solid evidence. Anifowoshe also mentions that President Tinubu’s actions regarding his academic records are in line with U.S. privacy laws.
However, Anifowoshe adds an important twist. If Atiku can prove that President Tinubu falsified the CSU certificate submitted to INEC, it could change everything.
This is because President Tinubu didn’t provide his primary and secondary school credentials to INEC. If it’s found that his CSU certificate is indeed fake, he may be disqualified from running for president, as per the Nigerian Constitution.
In addition, he could face perjury charges.
So, the legal battle between Atiku and President Tinubu continues.
