Reverend Father Stanislaus Mbamara, a Catholic priest and student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has been forcefully abducted by unknown gunmen while traveling from Awka to his destination in Nnewi.
The alarming news has prompted a swift response from the Nnewi Diocese, as Rev Fr Raphael Ezeogu, the diocesan chancellor, released a statement appealing for prayers and divine intervention to ensure the safe and prompt rescue of Fr. Mbamara from the clutches of his abductors.
In his statement, Rev Fr Raphael Ezeogu called upon the faithful to join in relentless supplication, beseeching heaven for Fr. Mbamara’s swift release and the restoration of his mental and physical well-being. The diocesan chancellor also invoked the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Help of Christians, to lend her prayers and support in this trying time.
The incident has caused great concern among the Catholic community in Anambra, with many expressing their solidarity and offering prayers for the safe return of Fr. Mbamara. The local authorities have been alerted, and efforts are underway to locate and rescue the abducted priest.
