Victor Boniface was back in action and wasted no time making his mark, scoring in Bayer Leverkusen’s nail-biting 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen on Saturday night.
The Nigerian striker had missed Leverkusen’s 1-1 tie at Brest earlier in the week, following a car accident last Sunday that kept him out briefly. But boy, did he bounce back! Thirty minutes into the match, Boniface coolly slotted in the opener after a slick assist from Jeremie Frimpong.
That goal brought his league tally to six for the season—pretty impressive, right? The 23-year-old gave it his all before getting subbed off for Patrick Schick with 20 minutes left on the clock.
