BUA Foods Plc, Nigeria’s largest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company by market capitalisation, has reported an impressive 101% year-on-year growth in Profit Before Tax (PBT), reaching ₦276.1 billion for the first half of 2025.
This remarkable performance was driven by a 36% increase in revenue, which rose to ₦912.5 billion, fueled by strong demand across its sugar, flour, pasta, and rice segments.
Notably, the rice division saw an extraordinary 2923% surge in revenue, jumping from ₦1.3 billion in H1 2024 to ₦39.3 billion in H1 2025, reflecting the success of the company’s strategic expansion into the local rice value chain.
Gross profit also grew by 55% to ₦339.3 billion, with gross margins improving to 37.2%, up from 32.4% the previous year. Earnings per share nearly doubled to ₦14.45, underscoring the company’s robust operational efficiency and diversified business model.
The company’s Managing Director, Engr. (Dr.) Ayodele Abioye, attributed the stellar results to BUA Foods’ strong fundamentals, operational resilience, and strategic investments in backward integration and manufacturing expansion.
He emphasized the company’s commitment to affordability, scale, and value delivery amidst evolving macroeconomic challenges. Key segments like flour and sugar contributed ₦378.2 billion (up 66%) and ₦398.1 billion (up 8%), respectively, while pasta revenue grew by 31% to ₦96.9 billion.
On the balance sheet, total assets increased by 21.7% to ₦1.33 trillion, and equity rose by 60.6% to ₦689.1 billion. With a focus on food security and regional expansion, BUA Foods aims to leverage technology and innovation to strengthen its supply chain and boost export capabilities across West Africa.
