A law mandating TikTok to separate from its Chinese parent firm, ByteDance, or risk a statewide ban was passed by the US House of Representatives.
The measure was approved by a substantial majority, 352 to 65.
According to the statute, TikTok has around six months to sell its American assets in order to comply; if it doesn’t, the app may be removed from American app stores.
Before the house decision, TikTok was spending millions on ads and grassroots PR initiatives like “TikTok Saved My Small Business.”
