Oba Lamidi, one of the top obas in the Yoruba race, the Alaafin of Oyo, has passed on.
According to report gathered, Alaafin Adeyemi, which is the third from the Alowodu Ruling House, passed on in the late hours of Friday 22nd of April 2022 at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, in Ekiti State.
The other top Yoruba traditional ruler are currently present in Oyo in the early hours of Saturday to begin traditional rites, as one of the palace sources revealed.
The deceased which is the longest reigning alafin as report may have it is 83 years old and, have ruled for 52 years.
Seyi Makinde, The state Governor of Oyo Stat, is expected to make an official declaration on getting the report of the king moving to world beyond from the Yusuf Akinade, Bashorun of Oyo, the head of the ‘Oyo Mesi’, who will take over the head of Oyo before a new king is installed.
Oba Lamidi had been sick earlier and a plan had been drawn to take him out abroad for proper treatment before he gave up the ghost on late Friday night of 22 of April, 2022.
