The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has declared Thursday, 3rd of October and Friday, 4th of October 2024 as public holidays ahead of the local government elections, scheduled for 5th of October, 2024.
The Governor also announced a total restriction on vehicular and human movements into, within, and out of the state, and the local government areas, from midnight of Friday, October 4 to 5:00 pm on Saturday, October 5.
Fubara made the declarations in a statewide broadcast on Wednesday.
“We are leaving no stone unturned to enable all registered voters to travel to their communities to participate and peacefully exercise their civic responsibility at their polling units,” he said.
The police and other security agencies have been directed to arrest and prosecute anyone attempting to violate the movement restriction. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
