Tragically, a University of Zambia third-year public administration student passed away from electrocution while trying to charge her phone.
The event happened yesterday evening in October Block 2, Room 23 at the University of Zambia’s Great East Road Campus, about 21:30 hours.
It was learned that 22-year-old Margret Chibesakunda suffered serious burns to her leg, right elbow, and neck.
Mr. Chibesakunda passed away from her wounds in spite of efforts to rescue her, according to police spokeswoman Rae Hamoonga.
He responded by saying that police moved quickly to maintain public order.
According to Mr. Hamoonga, the students were advised to grieve inside the college premises as opposed to upsetting the peace.
“Fortunately, the students complied with the advice and returned to the University grounds. The deceased’s body was transferred to the University of Zambia clinic and subsequently deposited at the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]
