Bayero University Celebrates Graduation of 11,284 in 18 Faculties

During its 38th convocation ceremony on Saturday, the Bayero University in Kano granted degrees to a total of 11,284 students across 18 faculties.

A total of one hundred and eighty students were awarded First Class honours during graduation.

5,432 students who have completed their studies were awarded higher degrees and postgraduate diplomas by the institution.

Additionally, honorary doctorate degrees were granted to Jibril Barau, the Deputy Senate President and Akinwumi Adesina, the President of African Development Bank during the ceremony.

The Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu affirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering education and sustainable development.

According to him, the government is committed to overhauling vocational and Tsangaya centers with a view to enhancing education and broadening skills acquisition opportunities for young people across the nation.

Tinubu announced that the Ministry of Power and Education are collaborating to establish long-term electricity solutions for universities, utilizing compressed natural gas. The aim is to enhance research opportunities within these institutions while addressing power challenges they face.

In his congratulatory message to the graduands, Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged them to view themselves as future leaders and utilize their degrees to the fullest.

Professor Sagir Abbas, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, declared that according to Times Higher Education’s 2024 Universities Assessment ranking, the institution has achieved a commendable position as Nigeria’s fifth best university.

According to the VC, Bayero University was positioned as Nigeria’s second-best institution in terms of international perspective, following Covenant University.

He affirmed that the institution is fully committed to enhancing its global presence and will persist in this pursuit without relenting.

Our commitment remains steadfast in providing better facilities and improving the quality of education and research.

Having found the graduands worthy in both character and learning, the VC congratulated them while also urging them to continue behaving responsibly.
