Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, is currently holding a closed-door meeting with top officials of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMeT).
The development was disclosed in a post on Thursday by Tunde Moshood, the minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, via his official X handle.
The post reads:
“The Hon. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN is a close door meeting with the executives of striking NIMET workers. Details will be released soon.”
Employees of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) on Wednesday embarked on a nationwide indefinite strike to protest unresolved welfare issues.
The aggrieved workers cited the agency’s failure to negotiate or implement previously agreed financial allowances, as well as outstanding wage awards, peculiar allowances, and arrears linked to the 2019 minimum wage.
They also accused NiMet’s management of withholding crucial documents, disregarding repeated requests to include omitted staff in previous disbursements, and prioritising executive retreats over essential staff training programmes.
