Jude Idimogu, a former two-term Lagos lawmaker, has urged Nigerian youths to refrain from setting the country on fire with the proposed nationwide protest.
He said this in an interview on Thursday, 25th of July, 2024, in Lagos, Idimogu, who represented Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II in the Lagos House of Assembly and serves as the deputy apex leader of Ndigbo in Lagos APC, made a heartfelt appeal for dialogue and patience.
Idimogu called on Nigerian youth to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu more time to address and reposition the economy.
He warned that protests could be hijacked by the nation’s enemies, leading to further unrest and instability.
“I want all of us to be patriotic, no matter how it is. We know President Bola Tinubu’s background as someone who has also suffered before getting to the office. He feels the pains of Nigerians,” Idimogu said.
He stressed that the President is aware of the suffering of Nigerians and is working diligently to alleviate it.
Idimogu appealed to Nigerian youths to protect the nation and not resort to actions that could lead to its destruction. He also called for unity among Nigerians to improve the nation’s economy.
“This country belongs to us because we don’t have any other place that is ours. Others may have destroyed their country, but we must not follow in their footsteps,” he added.
While acknowledging the right to protest, Idimogu suggested that there are other channels through which citizens can express their opinions and meet with the government.
He urged the 36 state governors to support federal efforts in alleviating the people’s challenges at the grassroots level, acknowledging the widespread hunger and economic difficulties.
“We are aware of hunger, but we cannot let our country go on fire. I want to appeal to the youths to take it easy. We have the responsibility to save this country,” Idimogu concluded. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
