Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has verified a security incident at his Yola residence, involving suspected individuals.
The incident came to light when former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, shared the information on his Twitter account.
In response to the situation, Atiku Abubakar’s media office released a statement confirming that the police have arrested four suspects involved in the plot to attack his residence.
According to the statement, security operatives apprehended an individual attempting to gain access to Atiku Abubakar’s residence around 9:44 pm on Sunday, 23rd July 2023.
The suspect identified himself as a 29-year-old Jubrila Mohammed and admitted to being a member of Boko Haram from Damboa, Borno State.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect and his accomplices had plans to attack organizations linked to Atiku Abubakar and other sensitive locations in Yola.
The four suspects have been handed over to military authorities for appropriate action.
