Former militant leader Asari Dokubo has dismissed recent reports of successful U.S. airstrikes in Sokoto State, labeling the operation as a failure that posed a threat to civilians instead of terrorists.
Reacting to media coverage, Dokubo asserted that the strikes did not hit any militant camps or kill any bandits. He claimed the explosives landed in open fields and near villages, creating large craters but causing no casualties among criminal elements.
“It’s so shameful and laughable,” Dokubo said, challenging authorities to provide evidence that even one terrorist was killed. He insisted that local residents confirmed the devices were drones but reported no security targets were neutralized.
Dokubo argued the operation endangered innocent lives, stressing there were “no bandits in the vicinity where the bomb landed.” He also rejected notions of unilateral foreign military action, stating that the United States could only operate in Nigeria in collaboration with local forces.
“America cannot send troops into a sovereign nation like Nigeria; they can only collaborate with Nigerian troops,” he concluded.
