In an audacious robbery incident, a four-man armed gang targeted the Oke-Sokori area of Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun State.

During the operation, the robbers managed to seize two ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bags believed to be filled with dollar notes.

According to reliable sources, the armed suspects, their faces concealed behind masks, wielded rifles as they carried out their crime.

In a swift and calculated manner, they ambushed a Northern trader who was driving a Toyota Venza with license plate ABC 565 GN.

Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the robbery unfolded around 3:45 PM. The assailants intercepted the victim in front of the Fatgbems filling station at Oke-Sokori.

With their target cornered, the robbers forcibly opened the car’s trunk and swiftly transferred the contents of the two bags, said to contain foreign currency, into their own vehicle.

They also made off with the victim’s car key, leaving him stranded.

Reports suggest that prior to the incident, the victim had attempted to deposit the stolen money at a commercial bank.

Unfortunately, he was turned away as the bank had already closed for the day.

The Ogun State Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the robbery and assured the public that law enforcement agencies were actively pursuing the suspects.

Oyeyemi affirmed that the police had dispatched alerts throughout the state, intensifying efforts to track down the armed robbers.

He expressed confidence in the police’s ability to apprehend the culprits, stating, “We will get them.”

The daring robbery has left the community in shock and heightened concerns about security in the area.

Authorities are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore peace and safety to Abeokuta.
