The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has debunked rumours about the introduction of new N5,000 and N10,000 notes, calling the reports completely false.
In a statement on it’s official X , the CBN urged the public to disregard the misleading content, adding:
“This content is NOT from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“Kindly note that the official website of the CBN is http://cbn.gov.ng.”
The false claims, which have sparked confusion across various platforms, suggested the new denominations would be launched to reduce cash-handling costs and enhance liquidity management.
