Anambra Police Rescue Suspects Accused of Ritu@l K!ll!ngs From Mob (Video)

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command successfully rescued two individuals who were accused of ritual killings from a violent mob in the Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, a male and a female, had been stripped naked by the enraged mob, and a video of the incident had gone viral on social media.

According to a man who filmed the incident, the suspects were alleged to have killed three people with the intent of using their bodies for money rituals. In the circulating video, the lifeless bodies of the victims were seen placed in a wheelbarrow, while the accused were forced to push them in turns.

However, the Anambra State Police Command, through its spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, released a press statement clarifying that the case was a matter of murder and not connected to ritual killings. Upon receiving information about the public humiliation of the culprits, the police swiftly intervened and rescued them.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga further disclosed that the deceased victims had been taken to a morgue, while the surviving victims, including the suspects, were receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

“The Command operatives, on the morning of June 7th, 2023, rescued two victims and a suspect who were about to be lynched by an angry mob at the Total Junction in Ihiala. To set the records straight, it is not a case of ritual killing, but a pure incident of murder.

“Preliminary information reveals that the two culprits, a man and a woman, who were humiliated and paraded as shown in the video by the angry mob, were erroneously accused as they were seen at the scene where the murder took place. Also, both the suspect and victims are currently receiving treatment in the hospital, while the deceased have been deposited in a morgue,” stated DSP Tochukwu Ikenga.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, has called for calm in the area while assuring the public that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a thorough and comprehensive investigation.
