Emmanuel Amuneke, the 1996 Olympic gold medallist, has stated that while he would be thrilled to coach the Super Eagles if given the chance, he wasn’t in a rush to take the position.
The former Super Eagles player Amuneke made this statement on Tuesday while speaking to reporters in Owerri.
The job of coaching Nigeria’s national team should be awarded on the basis of merit to the person who has the best interests of Nigeria and football in mind, according to the former coach of the Tanzania national team and the Nigeria U-17 national team.
The former striker, who currently resides in Spain and has played for Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon in Portugal, stated his belief that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will select the best coach for the Super Eagles head coaching position in the end.
He said that because there are so many talented Nigerians dispersed around the world, it will need a great deal of professional ability, technological know-how, and advice to bring these talents together and strike the necessary balance.
“The Super Eagles’ upcoming World Cup qualification matches against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa and their counterparts from Benin Republic would necessitate the appointment of a substantive coach who would also need some time to put the house in order for best results.
“I am not desperate to be Super Eagles coach, though I nurse the ambition to coach.
“If I have the opportunity to serve my fatherland , I will accept it and deliver my all,” he said. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
