Amotekun Apprehends Serial Electric Cable Thief in Osun State

Jimoh Sodiq, an ace burglar who specialized in stealing transformer cables and electric aluminum wires throughout Osogbo metropolis, has been captured by Osun Amotekun Corps operations.

The suspect was allegedly apprehended while stealing electric aluminum wire at Sawmill Area, Ido-Osun in Egbedore Local Government of Osun State.

The suspect who is an Ikirun native, living in Sabo in Osogbo, was caught in the act after using a plier to cut aluminum electric wires on three electric poles in the Sawmill Area, Ido-Osun.

The suspect was apprehended by Osun Amotekun Corps operatives, according to Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, who confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Osogbo.

He stated that the culprit was skilled in stealing transformer cables and electric aluminum wires, adding that the suspect had previously taken the stolen wires and sold them to his clients in a different town.

The Amotekun boss said the suspect confessed to the crime and revealed that he had been in the act before nemesis caught up with him.

“He confessed to the act and this is not his first time perpetrating same act of removing cables of transformers and electric aluminum wire and selling them to his customers in another town,” Adewinmbi said.

“The suspect also mentioned four of his gang members, namely, Saheed, Musibau, Boyee, and Wasiu, who he claimed work with him to perpetrate the act.

He said that although they terrorize various sections of Osogbo, Ido-Osun, Cocoa Factory House Ede, Okinni, and the Owode village, they also vandalize electric poles and rip away electrical aluminum wires found on the poles.

The suspect has been turned over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for further questioning and prosecution, according to the head of Amotekun. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
