Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing deep dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and Nigeria’s deteriorating socio-economic conditions.
Amaechi announced his resignation on July 2, 2025, during the unveiling of the interim executive of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja, where he accused the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of colluding to manipulate future elections.
He described Nigeria as “completely destroyed,” with citizens unable to afford food due to soaring inflation and economic instability, and emphasized the need for a transformative movement rather than just a change in government.
Amaechi also revealed he had distanced himself from APC activities long before his formal resignation, even warning the party in writing not to invite him to meetings, and expressed surprise that he was not expelled earlier.
His departure marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape as he joins a coalition of opposition figures aiming to challenge the APC in the 2027 elections. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
