Alexander-Arnold Debunks Alleged Beef With Van Dijk

Liverpool fullback, Trent Alexander-Arnold has refuted insinuation that there is a feud between him and the club’s skipper, Virgil Van Dijk.

Alexander-Arnold was the protagonist in the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Fulham on Sunday, December 3. The match was so intense that Fulham almost seized the maximum three points at Anfield Stadium.

During the match, German goalkeeper, Bernd Leno, presented Liverpool the advantage via an own goal in the 20th minute. However, the visitors managed to recover within four minutes to secure the equalizer through the kicks of Harry Wilson.

In the 38th minute, Alexis Mac Allister provided Liverpool the advantage which didn’t persist throughout the initial half as Fulham leveled the score in injury time of the opening 45 minutes through Kenny Tete.

The box-to-box display of both teams in the initial half dwindled in the latter half as Liverpool and their guests waited until the final ten minutes before they tallied the last set of goals.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid granted Fulham the advantage for the first time in the match in the 80th minute. Wataru Endō clinched the equalizer for Liverpool in the 87th minute. One minute later, Trent Alexander-Arnold secured the victor.

During the revelry for Alexander-Arnold’s match-winner, it was observed that Van Dijk wasn’t as thrilled as anticipated. Hence, most soccer enthusiasts speculated that there was a discord between them.

In contradistinction to the speculation, Alexander-Arnold asserted that the club’s leader was thrilled about his goal and even slid on the pitch, a celebration mode that the Dutch defender is not fond of.

The English defender went on to append that the Netherlands international bruised his knee during the slide celebration which left him in agony for the final minutes of the match.

“Virgil Van Dijk is not happy with me! He’s got a cut on his knee! That’s why he doesn’t knee slide”, Alexander-Arnold clarified.
