Akwa Ibom Governor Orders Exhumation of Makeup Artist’s Body for Dignified Burial

Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, has expressed his condolences to the family of Ms. Abigail Edith Frederick, a Nollywood makeup artist who died in a tragic boat accident a few days ago while returning from a movie location on the Anam River in Anambra State. Eno has ordered the exhumation of Frederick’s body from the riverside so that it can be buried in a proper manner.

Junior Pope Odonwodo, a well-known actor, was among the three crew members who passed away last Wednesday along with the makeup artist.

Because Abigail’s parents were unable to pay to have her corpse sent home for burial, it is said that her remains were interred near the Anam River’s bank.

The government of Akwa Ibom State, however, ordered her remains to be removed and sent to her home state for a befitting burial, claiming it was unaware of the circumstances.

Speaking on behalf of his employer over the weekend, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Eno, Ekerete Udoh, stated: “Ms. Abigael Edith Frederick, one of the accident victims, was a quintessential example of our young people who have heardken to our clarion call for them to ‘Arise and Shine.'” She was a 24 year old Theatre Arts graduate who had discovered her calling in makeup artistry.
