The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has clarified that the recently suspended internal prayer initiative was never an official policy aimed at tackling the nation’s agricultural or food security challenges.
In a statement on Saturday by the Assistant Director of Information, Ezeaja Ikemefuna, the Ministry stated that its attention was drawn to an internal circular from the Human Resource Management Department, which was meant for internal use but surfaced in online publications.
According to the statement, the prayer session was a staff-led initiative designed to support employee wellbeing in response to the recent sudden deaths of several management staff within the Ministry.
“The prayer was intended to help staff cope with the emotional toll of these losses, just as the Ministry has other internal wellness activities such as monthly aerobics, a gymnasium for physical fitness, and regular medical check-ups,” Ikemefuna said.
The Ministry stressed that the initiative was not designed as a substitute for its core programs or the significant efforts by government and stakeholders in addressing food security nationwide. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
