The leaders of the organised labour are currently at the State House for their meeting with representatives of the government over the impending indefinite strike planned to commence on Tuesday, 3rd of October, 2023.
The Labour leaders last week announced they will be embarking on an indefinite strike on Tuesday, 3rd of October, 2023 over the failure of the government to address the economic hardship accompanying the removal of fuel subsidy.
On Sunday, 1st of October, 2023, Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, met with the leaders of the TUC and NLC and some proposals by the Federal government were announced. One of which is N35, 000 provisional wage increase for six months, waiver of VAT for diesel for the next six months amongst others. The Labour leaders had told the Federal government delegation that it will meet with its members to decide if the offers made so far are satisfactory. This morning, the National Executive Council of the TUC and NLC met and deliberated on the offers made so far.
