Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the Adamawa State Governor, has expressed his condolences to Borno State Governor, Babagana Umaru Zulum, and the residents of Borno following the collapse of the Alau Dam, which resulted in the loss of lives and property in Maiduguri early Tuesday morning, 10th of September, 2024.
Fintiri shared his sympathies in a post on his official X page on Tuesday.
The post reads:
“In these trying times, our hearts are with the people of Borno State as they face the devastating floods that have displaced families, destroyed properties worth billions, and claimed countless lives and livelihoods. To my brother, Governor #ProfZulum, may Allah grant you and your people strength and ease as you navigate through this difficult moment. The government and people of Adamawa stand in solidarity with you, offering our prayers and support. Together, we will overcome. May Allah’s protection and mercy be with Borno state.”
Large parts of the Maiduguri metropolis, including the Shehu of Borno’s palace, the State Secretariat, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) office, State Specialist Hospital, among others, were reportedly submerged by water following the collapse of the Alau Dam in Konduga local government area of Borno State in the wee hours of Tuesday.
