The Lagos State House of Assembly has formed a special committee to look into the reported disappearance of 12-year-old Adebola Akin-Bright’s small intestine.
Adebola is currently hospitalized at the State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
During the assembly’s recent plenary session, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa inaugurated this committee.
The decision to create the committee comes after a video went viral in which a woman named Deborah Abiodun appealed to Nigerians and the Lagos governor to intervene in her son’s health crisis.
In the video, Abiodun explained that her son had undergone surgery for a ruptured appendix at a private hospital in Ile Epo, Lagos.
Unfortunately, complications arose after the surgery, leading to intestinal obstruction. She further stated that her son’s intestine started leaking seven days after a second operation at the same facility.
Speaker Obasa specified that the committee’s task is to investigate the matter thoroughly and provide a report to the assembly within the next two weeks.
The committee will be chaired by Noheem Adams, who serves as the majority leader, and its members include Temitope Adewale, Steve Ogundipe, Surajudeen Tijani, and Lawal Musibau.
Obasa also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for visiting the 12-year-old at the hospital, highlighting that the governor’s actions demonstrate the responsiveness and compassion of the Lagos government.
