Nollywood actress and popular TV host, Nancy Isime, has opened up about her early struggles as a teenage model and usher, revealing how singer Yemi Alade once gave her shelter during a difficult time.
In a touching post shared on social media, Isime recalled working late-night jobs at the age of 17 with no means of getting home, often resulting in her sleeping on chairs or rugs at event venues.
Despite her family’s concerns, she said she chose to navigate life independently.
“Yes, my family was always worried, especially my dad, but I’m a dangerous gyal and it’s best to let me figure out life my way, else the rebellion is quite rebellious,” she wrote.
Amid these struggles, Isime said she reached out to Yemi Alade, whom she had met through mutual friends, to ask for temporary accommodation. To her surprise, the singer warmly welcomed her.
“I stayed for weeks and this woman NEVER EVER complained. In fact, the peace was too much,” she wrote, praising Yemi as “peaceful, considerate, and full of positive energy.”
Nancy further revealed that after securing admission into the university, she was able to rent her own apartment in the same building as Yemi, where their bond continued to grow.
She ended her post with heartfelt gratitude, saying, “My Padi @yemialade, I dey for you for life!”
