Activist Farotimi arrives Ekiti magistrate court over defàmation case against Afe Babalola

Nigerian Human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, appeared at the Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, for his trial on criminal defamation charges filed against him by Chief Afe Babalola SAN.

Farotimi, who had been remanded at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre following his arraignment last week, was brought to court by prison officials

He was dressed in a black T-shirt and blue jeans upon arrival.

The charges stem from allegations made in Farotimi’s book, Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System, where he accused Babalola of influencing Supreme Court judges.

Babalola took issue with certain sections of the 104-page book, considering them defamatory, and subsequently filed a lawsuit against Farotimi. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
