Activist Deji Adeyanju Secures Release of Content Creator Arrested for Cyberbüllying

Prominent human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has successfully secured the release of an emerging content creator known online as “Banger Boy,” whose real name is Seun. The creator was arrested in Lagos following a complaint of cyberbullying and defamation.

The complaint was filed by UK-based influencer Lawrence Alabi, who accused Seun of posting a series of defamatory content targeting him and his wife. The alleged posts included caricatures and personal insinuations about their private life.

Adeyanju announced the release on Friday, sharing photos of Seun reunited with his family outside the police station. On the social media platform X, Adeyanju referred to the content creator as “Lawrence’s victim” and criticized the incident as an example of the growing misuse of police power to settle online disputes.

The arrest had previously ignited a major debate across social media after images and videos of Seun in detention circulated widely. While some users defended Alabi’s right to pursue legal recourse against online harassment, many others condemned the police action as disproportionately severe and dehumanizing.
