Activist Aisha Yesufu Challenges Peter Obi’s Take on Protests During Jonathan Regime

Peter Obi recently questioned the silence of critics who once labeled former President Goodluck Jonathan as “clueless,” “ineffective,” and “corr¥pt,” noting that under the current administration, prices have skyrocketed tenfold.

In response, activist and vocal Obi supporter Aisha Yesufu pushed back on Obi’s stance that protests were unnecessary during Jonathan’s tenure. “That’s a very wrong notion,” she stated, emphasizing that in functional democracies, protests are a constant tool for accountability.

In her Youtube video, Yesufu argued that even under good leadership, citizens must retain their right to protest. “If Mr. Obi thinks he’ll get into office and people won’t protest no matter how good he is, then he should drop that idea,” she said.

She acknowledged that protests against Jonathan’s administration were largely focused on the fuel price hike from ₦65 to ₦120, pointing out that people react to present conditions, not future outcomes. “Nobody protests for the future,” she said, adding, “If there was ever a time for protest, it was during Jonathan’s administration.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
