Godwin Emezue, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, was on Friday night, 26th of January, 2024, kidnapped from a petrol station at Umuekwule, Amachara in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.
The academician and his wife were at the station to buy fuel when the assailants’ attacked and forcefully took Professor Emezue into their Lexus SUV and also collected his wife’s ATM card before fleeing the scene, freshreporters media had gathered.
Chijioke Nwogu, the university spokesperson, confirmed the tragic incident stating that the police in Abia State have acknowledged the kidnapping and that the university learned of Mr. Emezue’s abduction through social media.
In a statement released, the spokesperson of the state police command, Maureen Chinaka, said;
‘’On 26/01/2024, at about 9.30 p.m., the Abia State Police Command received information that on the same date, at about 7 p.m., the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Uturu ABSU, ProfGodwin Emezue, while in the company of his wife in their vehicle, was abducted by hoodlums while purchasing fuel at a petrol station in Umuopara, Umuahia South LGA.
“During the incident, the hoodlums confiscated his wife’s ATM card, dragged the Deputy Vice-Chancellor into a Lexus SUV, and drove away with the victim.
The Abia State Police Command is deploying resources and assets including intelligence and technical aid towards unravelling the crime, and safely rescuing the victim from his captors.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
