The remaining Federal University students and staff in Gusau, Zamfara State, who were kidnapped on September 22, 2023, are now free.
Around 20 students, primarily women, were kidnapped by bandits who broke into hostels in the Sabon-Gida village of the Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara.
Twenty-three detainees were still held captive following months of efforts by family members and university officials to free some of the captives.
Sources said that on Sunday, security personnel managed to save the surviving students and staff.
“They were released at Kuncin Kalgo in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara state and handed over to other security agencies on Sunday. A total of 23 persons in all,” said a source with direct knowledge of the development. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
