“A Married Man Gifted Me a Car And My Husband Wasn’t Bothered” — Omotola

Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has sparked widespread conversation online after revealing she once received a car as a gift from another man while being married.

Speaking in an interview with Naija FM 102.7, the veteran actress also addressed misconceptions about gender dominance in Nollywood, asserting that women are the true engine of the industry. “Women are the ones who hold Nollywood,” she said, noting that many female stars are not just performers but business owners, producers, influencers, and entrepreneurs. According to her, most actresses juggle multiple ventures alongside their acting careers.

However, it was her candid revelation about receiving expensive gifts that captured the most attention. “Women have admirers,” she said. “Me, who is married, I know how many people have gifted me things, women and men. They’ll just see me and say, ‘Omotola, I’m sending you this.’ They’ve gifted me a car before.”

When asked whether she returned the vehicle out of respect for her marriage, the actress responded matter-of-factly: “No, why would I return the car?”

Omotola attributed the ease with which such situations are managed to her husband’s unwavering confidence. She described him as “the most secure human being you can ever meet.”

“Think about it, how would you marry an Omosexy if you’re not secure?” she joked.
