Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun state governor, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following his re-election as the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States,ECOWAS, on Sunday, 7th of July, 2024.
In a congratulatory message on Sunday, Abiodun stated that Tinubu’s re-election signifies the steadfast trust and confidence the sub-region places in his leadership, noting that it as a testament to his exceptional leadership qualities.
According to him, since Tinubu’s election a year ago, he has established a robust foundation for future regional integration and enhanced security for the populace.
He also commended Tinubu for his statesmanship in handling the violent government changes in three member states—Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger—remarking that his actions prevented a potential crisis in the sub-region.
He said:
“Under President Tinubu’s guidance, ECOWAS has made remarkable giant strides in fostering economic integration, promoting regional peace and security, and enhancing cooperation among member states.
“His dedication to advancing the interests of the West African region has been evident throughout his first tenure, and we are confident that his re-appointment will further accelerate the progress achieved thus far.
“President Tinubu’s visionary leadership and strategic approach have been instrumental in addressing the challenges facing the region, including threat to democracy, occasioned by coup in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso and insecurity.
