Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center, has cautioned brides who set the amount for Asoebi at a high price to be considerate.
Popularly called Pastor B, he said this while giving a sermon titled “Dealing with financial difficulties” shared via his X handle on Thursday, 6th of June, 2024.
He said:
“All of you that are doing marriage, that are doing Asoebi, have mercy. Asoebi 350,000, that’s 2 months salary. You will now put them under pressure and say, if you are my loyal friend, if you are my gang, you will buy this, it is just a one-time wedding, N350,000.
“You are the one that is wedding, we are not wedding with you. The fact that I wear Asoebi does not mean I can’t be your enemy.
“Judas ate with Jesus Christ, he betrayed him. John (sic) of Arimathea did not know Jesus Christ, he saved him. The person who carried the cross, Simon the Cyrene, nobody heard about him. So the fact that they wore Asoebi does not mean they are your friends.
“We just put ourselves under pressure for what is not important, your friend can afford to put their children in boarding school in London, at the pound rate, that’s great but can you afford it? And you begin to put your husband under pressure because of what your friend is doing.
