Singer Adekunle Gold speaks on his journey as a Sickle cell carrier

Adekunle Gold, a Nigerian Afrobeat star has opened up on his journey as a sickle cell patient.

The music star, who got married to his colleague, Simi Kosoko shared how it took him years to finally reveal publicly how he suffered from Sickle Cell Disease.

He shared this via a post on his X handle formerly Twitter. He reflected back on how he disclosed his predicament two years ago and realizing that more needs to be done as the incurable disease spread across the globe.

The singer, has not only reflected on how he was born and was being able to manage his predicament. He noted that over 10,000 children who are born in the West Africa have similar disease. Adekunle Gold admonished the relevant agencies to get resources and research needed in order to fight the incurable disease.

He said,

” 😭😭😭 It took me years to finally be able to share publicly that I was born with Sickle Cell.”

He stressed,

“Over the last 2 years, I have spoken about this disease during my performances, but I realize that more needs to be done.

Every year, over 100,000 children are born with Sickle Cell in Nigeria alone. Sickle Cell has no cure; it is highly under-researched because it primarily affects West Africans.”

“I want to ensure that all the independent organizations doing the vital work, outreach, and research needed to fight Sickle Cell receive the resources and support that they desperately need. ” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
