5 Yoruba nation agitators who hijacked radio station arrested in Ibadan [PHOTOS]

  • A group of alleged Yoruba nation agitators, totaling five individuals, has been apprehended following their involvement in the invasion and hijacking of a radio station in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
  • The incident took place during the early hours of Sunday morning, with approximately twenty suspects storming the station, known as Amuludun FM, which is owned by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

In a recent development, it has been reported that a group of individuals purporting to advocate for the Yoruba nation’s cause has been taken into custody.

The alleged agitators, numbering five in total, were apprehended subsequent to their forceful occupation of a radio station situated in Ibadan, the prominent city serving as the capital of Oyo State. This daring act occurred during the early morning hours.

The targeted establishment, Amuludun FM, stands as a community radio station operated by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

Eyewitness accounts suggest that a group comprising approximately twenty individuals orchestrated the invasion, successfully seizing control of the live studio.

The incident unfolded around 5:30 am on Sunday, just as a sponsored program was airing.

Once in control of the radio station, the agitators proceeded to broadcast their message to the public for roughly sixty minutes.

However, their takeover was short-lived, as law enforcement authorities promptly intervened and apprehended them.

Specific details indicate that, among the group of agitators, five individuals were detained for their involvement in the incident.

The General Manager of Amuludun FM, Mr. Stephen Agbaje, confirmed the arrest of the aforementioned individuals as learnt by FRESHREPORTERS on Sunday.

According to him, the detainees comprise four men and a woman.

Their names are as follows: Noah Atoyebi (30 years old, male), Gbenga Adeleke (25 years old, male), Abdulganiyu Mustafa Kolawole (35 years old, male), Bashiru Kehinde O. (female), and Fajola Elija (45 years old, male).

As of the time of this report, the suspects remain under the custody of security agents, awaiting further legal proceedings and investigations into their motives and actions.
