A gas explosion in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, caused a massive inferno that left at least three people dead and hundreds injured.
Government spokesperson Isaac Maigua Mwaura said on X that the fire in the Embakasi area erupted on Thursday night after a Lorry [truck] of an unknown registration number that was loaded with gas exploded.
Nairobi Regional Police Commander Adamson Bungei who also confirmed the fire outbreak stated that the fire was caused by an explosion at a gas filling station in Mradi Estate, Embakasi.
“We can authoritatively confirm the fire was caused by a gas explosion. Our firefighters are working round the clock to contain it,” said Bungei early Friday morning.
At least 250 people have sustained burns and other injuries from the incident.
Earlier, the Kenyan Red Cross said it had taken 271 people to health facilities around the capital and 27 were treated on site. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
