A man, Angrej Singh of age 26, has reportedly been nabbed in India for disguising himself as a woman to write an exam on behalf of his girlfriend, Paramjeet Kaur, 34 years old girlfriend.
Sources revealed that Singh was caught during a recruitment examination held by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in Punjab’s Faridkot district after officials found that his biometric details did not match those of the original candidate.
The incident happened on 7th of January, 2024 at DAV Public School in Kotkapura, which was one of the centres where the entrance exam for the post of female multipurpose health worker was held.
According to the Kotkapura Station House Officer, Manoj Kumar, Singh came to the examination hall wearing a salwar kameez along with a stole and a cap.
He had shaved off his facial hair, applied makeup, and affixed his own photo (dressed like a girl) over that of his girlfriend.
Kumar said,
“On January 7 we sent him home as we had got nothing in writing from the university but on January 8, we got a complaint from Dr Deepak Bhatti, registrar of BFUHS, and thus lodged an FIR under IPC section 419 (impersonation) against Angrez Singh.
“We will include Kaur too as a co-accused in this case as without her permission, he could not have sat in the exam.
“Angrez Singh was arrested and has got bail. An investigation on the fake identity cards will be done after getting more details from the university.”
The Faridkot Senior Superintendent of Police, Harjeet Singh, told Indian Express that Singh had managed to enter the examination hall.
However, the officials got suspicious as the picture of Paramjeet Kaur on the application form did not match the face of the candidate in question.
“Later biometrics were done and they didn’t match with the ones kept in the records. It was found that a boy named Angrez Singh had impersonated Kaur. He had even got a fake Aadhaar card, voter card and I card made in the name of Paramjeet Kaur,” the SSP said.
The report further disclosed that Kaur had earlier failed in the exam. Though Singh said she was a relative, police investigation found out they were not relatives. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
