The US President Donald Trump has announced that 2026 G20 summit will be hosted in Miami.
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating that “the greatest city in the world is ready to welcome the world’s leaders.”
He thanked Trump for selecting Miami, describing it as “the stage for peace through strength.”
The announcement was made in the Oval Office, with Francis Suarez present.
The event is expected to bring significant economic benefits to Miami, with Suarez highlighting the city’s readiness and its low homeless and homicide rates as part of its appeal.
”Of course, thank you Mr. President, it’s a tremendous honor to be with You here today in the Oval Office to make this historic announcement.
”Just looking at that sign which is so beautiful… Good job. Yeah, it’s a great job.
”As you know Mr. President, You were elected by double digits. You are first Republican president over 30 years to win Miami-Dade County. And you did because You followed through on your promises.
”In Miami what we’re doing is following though those promise as well. We’ve kept taxes low. Kept people safe. Leaned into innovation. We’ve grown 150% in the last 10 years. And we created one of most intriguing ecosystems in this world.
”This decision is not only generationally important for city but it puts the City on a map as truly great global cities.
”On behalf all workers of Miami, those that work in hospitality industry, I know you own many hospitality assets and properties, all small business owners who are going to benefit economically from having G20 in Miami, tremendous, tremendous benefits.
”It’s gonna bring millions and millions of dollars. We just say thank you. Thank for believing in us and we thank your highlighting our city at a time where have the lowest homeless rate in 11 years. We’re on precipice of having the lowest Homicide rates in history with the lowest taxes.
”So we’re following Your America first agenda and we’re creating success. You know Miami’s the greatest City in world. We believe”, Francis Suarez said
