18-year-old Indian sets Guinness World Record for hairiest face

Lalit Patidar, an 18-year-old from India, has earned a place in the Guinness World Records for having the hairiest face on record.

Patidar’s condition, known as hypertrichosis or “werewolf syndrome,” results in excessive hair growth.

According to Guinness World Records, his face is covered by an incredible 201.72 hairs per square centimeter, with more than 95% of his face being covered in hair.

According to a statement on the GWR website,

“Over 95% of his face is covered in hair. He has an incredibly rare condition called hypertrichosis, also known as werewolf syndrome, which causes an abnormal amount of hair growth. Lalit is one of only around 50 documented cases reported worldwide since the Middle Ages, making him one in a BILLION. And he’s certainly a special guy.

“He’s overcome all of the stares from strangers and nasty comments you’d sadly imagine he would have received. The other kids at school were even scared of him when he showed up for his first day.”

The teenager, who has faced rejection and stares from others, has shown remarkable resilience and decided to embrace his rare condition.

He said:

“They were scared of me but when they started knowing me and talking to me they understood I was not so different from them, and it was just on the outside that I looked different, but I’m not different inside.”

Patidar’s remarkable achievement was officially acknowledged after he appeared on the Italian television program ‘Lo Show dei Record’, where his facial hair was meticulously measured to confirm his place in the record books.
