Miracle Ogbonna, a 15-year-old girl, was on Sunday, March 31, electrocuted while retrieving water from a well at the Omolore housing estate in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
The command spokesman, SP Omolola Odutola, stated in a statement issued today, April 1, that a person named Onyekachi Silas reported an electrocution case to the Divisional Police Officer in Lafenwa.
According to the statement made public, Odutola added that Onyekachi told the DPO that, at around 23:50 hours, his younger brother called to tell him that Miracle, who also happens to be the brother’s wife’s younger sister and lives with them, had been electrocuted.
He said that Miracle went to the well to get water during the house’s power outage. IBEDC restored electricity while they were fetching water.
Miracle was cruelly electrocuted, according to Onyekachi, by a bare cable wire from the pumping equipment that was embedded in the well. After Miracle was taken to Rose Hospital, he informed the police, the on-call physician there confirmed her death.
Odutola said investigation has commenced into the incident and that the corpse have been deposited at Oke Lantoro morgue. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
