The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has confirmed the rescue of thirteen Nigerian girls who were trafficked to Ghana.
The agency stated that with this rescue, the total number of individuals repatriated to Nigeria since July has reached 163.
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) have extended their heartfelt gratitude to First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, BOT Chairman (Rescue live foundation International/NIDO Ghana), Callistus Elozieuwa, Nido Ghana, Nigerian Interpol, Ghana Police for escorting the trafficked girls back home.
The director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Nigerians in diaspora commission (NIDCOM), Abdur-Rahman Balogun, had earlier disclosed that the rescued girls were brought back to Nigeria over the weekend.
The rescued young girls said to be between 19 to 30 are from Ebonyi, Benue, Kaduna and Rivers States lured under the false promises of employment but coerced into exploitative situations and bound by oaths of secrecy.
