Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay officially submitted a joint bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2030, exactly 100 years after the event was first held in Montevideo.
SuperSports noted that officials of the four countries were joined by the president of the South American Football Confederation, Alejandro Dominguez.
The president noted that the development would serve as recognition to celebrate 100years.
Speaking during the bid launch, the president, Dominguez said, “The 2030 World Cup is not just another World Cup, it deserves a celebration with recognition for 100 years.
“We are convinced that FIFA has an obligation to honour the memory of those who came before us and believed in greatness and made the first World Cup.”
