One Federal High Court in Calabar has sentenced Dr. Geraldine Orok Ita to seven years in prison for fraud involving N127,686,594.87.
Justice Rosemary Oghoghorie convicted Ita on a 12-count charge of forgery and fund diversion filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The case, which began in 2019, stemmed from a petition by Sharpnet Concept Limited and ROK Project Limited. The petitioners accused Ita of forging company documents, illegally removing directors, and diverting funds.
Investigations revealed that she altered corporate records, manipulated share allotments, and took possession of N45 million paid by the University of Calabar for a project executed by the firms.
Despite pleading not guilty, Ita was found guilty based on overwhelming evidence presented by EFCC prosecutor Joshua Abolarin. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
