EFCC Alleges Former AGF Malami Owns 41 Properties Worth N212bn, Faces Money Lâundering Charges

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly identified 41 properties valued at approximately N212 billion allegedly linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

According to a report by TheCable, the assets comprise a diverse portfolio including hotels, residential buildings, parcels of land, schools, and a printing press. These properties are situated across Kebbi State, Kano State, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Breakdown of Alleged Assets by Location

· Kebbi State: Properties valued at about ₦162.19 billion.
· Kano State: Properties estimated at ₦16.01 billion.
· Federal Capital Territory (FCT): Assets worth approximately ₦34.69 billion.

Legal Charges Filed
In a related development, the Federal Government has filed a 16-count criminal charge against Malami and his son, Abdulaziz Malami. The charges, bordering on money laundering, accuse both defendants of offences contrary to Sections 15, 18, and 21 of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act.

TheCable reports it has obtained the complete list of the properties in question, which form a central part of the ongoing financial crime investigation.
